Pampas Grass – Prescott, Arizona
The bicycle wind decor seeming to rind into the pampas grass was too irresistable to not photograph. Color only.

Shadows and Textures – Holbrook, Arizona
This little picnic area formed a beautiful patter of light and shadow in the desert sun. I would have only produced a black and white image, but the bright red table looked awesome in color.

New Life – Devil’s Highway, Arizona
We stopped to take photos of a rock outcrop lit by the setting sun, and saw this on a hillside opposite of the road. Amid rocks, this small plant is trying to grow and was beautiful in the moment.

Beautiful every day of the year, Boyce Thompson elicits the pure joy of desert species.
One of our favorite places for a relaxing hike (more like a slow wander) is Boyce Thompson Arboretum. We’ve probably taken more photos here than anywhere else.

This peaceful scene is a wonderful place to pause and reflect in the park. I prefer the black and white image

Cactus near bloom at Boyce Thompson Arboretum
Good reason to return in a week or two – the blossoms are beautiful

Beautiful flower at Boyce Thompson Arboretum
Boyce Thompson Arboretum has signs telling what each of the plants are, but I don’t remember this one. Google images wrongly identifies it as a pineapple. I found that funny.

Barrel Cactuses – Boyce Thompson Arboretum, Arizona
The sheer number and crowded placement of these barrel cacti were of such beauty in the desert sun. I much prefer the black and white image

Spiral Cactus – Boyce Thompson Arboretum
The spiral growth pattern of this cactus located at Boyce Thompson Arboretum in Arizona was fascinating.

Navajo Nation – near Kayenta Arizona
These rock formations jut out of the flat land all over the area. They make fascinating figures when the light creates shadows within and around them.

Navajo Nation Near Kayenta
The angular lines of this rock formation, coupled with the wind-blown tree growth caused me to stop and take photos near the town of Kayenta. I was driving from Farmington, New Mexico to Page, Arizona.

Sunrise in the Rockies
The moon setting as the sun rose behind us made me stop on a drive through Colorado. I stood in the windy cold trying to frame the photo to include the nearby church.

Tortilla Flats Sunrise
The flats are most beautiful just at sunrise, appearing suddenly as you crest the hill.

Beyond Hope – Arizona
This town has these signs at every point leaving town. They are famous and all over the Internet.

Mesquite – Mojave Desert – Arizona
I love the image of this mesquite branch near the Colorado River water in Parker, AZ. Still better in black and white.

Wildflower
I can’t pronounce the name Phacelia crenulata, Cleftleaf Wildheliotrope. It’s a beautiful purple flower in the rocks.

“Pirate Ship” Parker Arizona
This “Pirate” ship was docked at the restaurant at Pirate’s Cove in Parker Arizona on the Colorado River.

Railing Canyon Lake Arizona
This railing caught my eye when we were eating at the restaurant on the lake. Though I prefer it in black and white, I also produced a color version due only to the golden hue formed by the yellowish light.

Park Bridge – Farmington, New Mexico
This iron bridge in Farmington New Mexico is beautiful as it spans the river. I prefer black and white

Antelope Canyon X – Navajo Nation – Arizona
This slot canyon near Glen Canyon is unendingly beautiful with different patterns throughout the day. My camera equipment was damaged by the sand blowing through the canyon.

Indian Motorcycles – Lowell, Arizona
Lowell is an interesting location – it is a period (1950s) quasi-ghost town one must see.

Old Fort Courage – Navajo Reservation – Arizona
This old “Fort” was once a tourist attraction on Route 66

Salt River Canyon near Horse Mesa Dam, Arizona
The views of the Salt River Canyon in Arizona are amazing.

Bridge – Roosevelt Lake Arizona
This bridge, on a near hairpin turn on the way to the Roosevelt Dam is too unique not to take a photograph.

Tempe Lake Footbridge
We love to stroll this bridge in moderate weather. We used to take tons of photos of the lakefront.

Hieroglyphic Trail – Arizon
Westward view on the way back down from the Hieroglyphic Trail in the Superstition Mountains.

Alstom Point Utah
We drove a rental car through some rugged off-road adventure to get here, but it was worth every bit.

Steins New Mexico
I think these photos look better in black and white, but here’s color for those who disagree.
